PaperArchive

Drop in a dense academic paper and get it back as plain words, analogies, doodles and a pocket glossary. Drag the scraps around, then fill a tape.

Each tape is one paper. Pick a blank one to record a new paper, or open a recorded one to read it chapter by chapter.

How it
works

Upload a PDF and an AI model reads the whole paper, then retells it the same way every time, so you learn the real terminology without needing the background.

so basically…
Plain words, every chapterone chapter per section of the original
it’s like…
An analogy for each ideaon a sticky note beside the text
see it drawn
A doodle per chaptersketched for that chapter’s idea
what does that mean?

Add a paper

All you need is a PDF. No account and no API key: the explainer is written by a small AI model that runs right in your browser, or by Claude when you run Paper Archive on your own computer. It takes a few minutes.

  • Free, in your browser. The model (Qwen3.5) downloads once, about 1 GB, then runs on your device’s graphics chip. It needs a recent Chrome or Edge on a laptop or desktop.
  • Claude, with approval. Claude writes much fuller explainers. On the live site it runs on the owner’s API credit, so you ask for access in the add-paper dialog and get a personal link. Or download Paper Archive and start it with python3 server.py to use your own Claude plan.
  • You choose what’s kept. When an explainer is ready, you’re asked whether to keep it on this device or only for this session.
  • Your PDF isn’t stored. In the browser it never leaves your device; Claude reads it from a temporary folder that’s deleted straight after. Only the finished explainer is kept, and only if you say so.
